The UEFA has charged both Atletico Madrid and Olympique Marseille with a series of offences during the Europa League final. The Spanish club has been charged for displaying what the European Football Association described as a ‘racist’ banner.
According to Omnisport the charge relates to a flag displayed by fans that appeared to be styled like a Nazi war sign. The UEFA have now charged Atletico with alleged racist behaviour and the setting off fireworks.
The UEFA has also started an investigation against Marseille, with charges relating to crowd disturbances, acts of damage, setting off of fireworks, throwing objects onto the pitch and trying to delay the kick-off.
The case will be heard by UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31.
