Lionel Messi has won his fifth European Golden Shoe after scoring 34 goals in FC Barcelona’s title winning campaign. The Argentinian forward came off the bench to round off his and the club’s season with a victory over Real Sociedad, but failed to score. Despite not scoring, Messi claimed the Spanish top scorer title and winning the European Golden Shoe.
Based on La Liga’s coefficient Messi has 68 points (34 goal), leaving him clear of Premier League stars Mohamed Salah (32/64) and Harry Kane (30/60). From the Serie A Ciro Immobile (Lazio) and Mauro Icardi (Inter) both finished the season on 29 goals and complete the top five on the ranking.
Messi also claimed the Spanish top scorer title (Pichichi). He was unsurprisingly followed by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid forward had a rough start of the season in La Liga, but managed to finish the season on 26 goals after a strong second part.
