Unai Emery has managed to convince the Arsenal board to sign one of his former players from Sevilla. The new Gunners boss wants to strengthen his midfield next season and has asked the club’s board to prepare a bid for French midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.
It is not the first time N’Zonzi has appeared on Arsenal’s radar, as Arsene Wenger was keen to sign the midfielder in January. The deal collapsed after head of recruitment Sven Mislintat decided against the move. However, Emery appears to be more persuasive as the Spaniard has managed to convince the Arsenal board.
According to the Mirror Mislintat had advised against N’Zonzi, putting forward Watford ace Abdoulaye Doucoure as a better option. But, it is now believed Emery has won his first transfer battle at the Emirates and the club will be making a bid before the start of the World Cup on June 14.
