Arsenal are close to complete the signing of German goalkeeper Bernd Leno. According to SportBild, the Gunners have agreed terms with his club Bayer Leverkusen and are currently finalising personal terms ahead of a medical on Tuesday. If Leno passes the medical, the transfer could be completed on Tuesday.
It is reported Arsenal have agreed a fee around 25 million for Leno, which could make him the sixth most expensive goalkeeper in the world. Leno is considered to become Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper, with veterans Petr Cech and David Ospina possibly leaving the club this summer. Both goalkeepers have just one year remaining on their contracts at the Emirates.
If Arsenal complete Leno’s signing on Tuesday, the German will be the club’s second summer signing following the capture of former Juventus full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner. On the next few weeks it is expected Arsenal will complete more signings, with defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and midfielder Lucas Torreira reportedly on their way to London.
