Fenerbahce have confirmed on their official website they have parted with head coach and former player Aykut Kocaman. The Turkish giants, who finished as runner-up behind rivals Galatasaray last season in the Super Lig, ends his second term at the club.
A statement on Fenerbahce’s website read: “We have reached an understanding that our football team needs to open a new page in terms of leadership,” newly elected Ali Koc said. “I would like to thank both personally and on behalf of our board of directors Mr. Kocaman for all his services to the club.”
It is expected Fenerbahce will be appointing PSV Eindhoven manager Phillip Cocu in the coming days. The former FC Barcelona midfielder and Dutch international has been coaching PSV for five seasons, winning three titles in the Eredivisie.
