According to Sky Sports, Southampton have agreed a fee with Basel for Norwegian international Mohamed Elyounoussi. It is understood the Saints have agreed a fee worth 18 million for the 23-year-old forward, who has collected 16 caps for Norway during his career.
Elyounoussi joined Basel in the summer of 2016 in a 4 million deal from Norwegian side Molde FK. The forward has played 84 games for the Swiss giants, with 23 goals and 30 assists to his name. In his two seasons with the club Elyounoussi won the Swiss double in the 2016/2017 season.
The signing of Elyounoussi will boost Southampton’s options in attack, with the confirmed transfer of Dusan Tadic to Ajax. The Serbian forward will complete his move to Amsterdam on July 1st in a deal potentially worth 14 million.
