Miguel Layun will continue his career in the Spanish LaLiga. Villarreal have confirmed that the 30-year-old right-back has signed a contract for three seasons at the club. Layun has completed a move from FC Porto and will be joining his new club as soon as he returns from his holiday, following his participation at the World Cup with Mexico.
The defender has made 67 appearances for Mexico and featured in all four games at the World Cup for the Central Americans. Layun enjoyed earlier spells at Granada, Watford, Sevilla and FC Porto. The defender had one year remaining on his contract in Portugal, but has decided to move to Spain in a reported four-year deal.
Layun played 80 official games for Porto, scoring 11 goals and providing 23 assists. Last season the defender secured the title in the Liga NOS. Layun is the sixth Mexican to ever play for Villarreal, following Antonio De Nigris, Guille Franco, Javier Aquino, Giovani dos Santos and Jonathan dos Santos.
