Alassane Plea has completed a move to Borussia Monchengladbach for an undisclosed fee from French side Nice. The 25-year-striker looked to be on his way to the Premier League, with several clubs interested, including Tottenham Hotspur. However, Plea has signed a 5-year-deal with Gladbach.
“We’re extremely glad that this transfer has gone through and we were able to sign Alassane despite a lot of competition from various other well-known clubs,” sporting director Max Eberl said. “Thankfully for us, he wanted to come to Borussia at all costs. He’s a versatile, quick and clever forward who has put his talent on full display in Ligue 1 and the Europa League.”
Plea had several admirers in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, with Gladbach being the lucky club to sign the forward. Gladbach announced their signature of Plea shortly after the club confirmed that defender Jannik Vestergaard has completed a move to Southampton for a reported 22 million.
