Manchester City received a kick in the teeth last week when Napoli midfielder Jorginho rejected a move to northern England to join up with Chelsea in a 60m move. The Premier League champions still want to sign a central midfielder this summer and now have switched their attention to Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina.
The Gabon international has just completed his first season at the Saints, but failed to meet up expectations. Lemina was brought in for a club record transfer after he had a good season for Juventus, but with only one goal and one assist to his name, Lemina had a disappointing first season.
However, a soft season in the Premier League has not put off Manchester City, who are reportedly looking for contact with Southampton for the midfielder. It is suggested that Lemina could be available for around 25m. City completed the transfer of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City earlier this week.
