Atletico ready to hijack Napoli’s transfer for Colombian international

Atletico Madrid are ready to battle Napoli in their hunt for Santiago Arias. The Colombian PSV-defender has been linked with a move to the Italians for weeks and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis even claimed the transfer would be completed within a couple of days.

However, according to Sky Italia Atletico Madrid are ready to intervene and pick up the Colombian international. The Spanish giants are currently in talks with Internazionale to discuss terms for Sime Vrsaljko and have now marked Arias as a potential target to replace the Croatian.

Dutch champions PSV are demanding 10 to 15m for the 26-year-old Colombian international, a price that both Napoli and Atletico are willing to pay. Arias has been a PSV player since his transfer from Sporting Portugal in 2013. He has played 172 games for the Dutch giants, winning 3 Eredivisie titles.
