Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly shown interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria. It is believed that the Premier League side is preparing a 40m offer for the Switzerland international, who was part of Swiss’ squad at the 2018 World Cup.
According to Sportbild, Mauricio Pochettino has identified the ball-winning midfielder as the perfect alternative to Victor Wanyama. The Kenian ball-winning midfielder is currently injured and will not be available anytime soon for Spurs. It is claimed that Pochettino wants to add more physicality to his midfield this summer and has marked Zakaria as a target.
However, Zakaria joined Gladbach on a big money deal last summer from Swiss club Young Boyas and still has a contract until the summer of 2022. It seems unlikely that the German club will be prepared to sell their midfielder for a bargain fee and according to Bild, Gladbach could be demanding at least 60m for Zakaria.
