Napoli wants to sign Henrichs or Darmian after Sabaly fails medical

Napoli are considering moves for either Benjamin Henrichs or Matteo Darmian after Youssouf Sabaly failed his medical. The Senegal defender was all-set to sign for the club from Girondins Bordeaux, but issues during his medical saw the Partenopei pull the plug.

“Matteo Darmian on loan with an option to buy? True! I told you were were looking at six profiles, Henrichs of Bayer is also a possibility. We’ll see what happens”, Napoli club president Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed his club’s interest on Radio Kiss Kiss. Henrichs will be allowed to leave Bayer Leverkusen for 15m, while Darmian has expressed his desire to leave Manchester United this summer.

Santiago Arias of PSV also remains an option for Napoli, but he doesn’t have an EU passport. So if he arrives then Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa will not sign for the club. Napoli has not decided if they want to sign the Mexican goalkeeper as a temporary replacement for Alex Meret, who broke his arm in training just five days after he joined the club.
