Everton will be offering Jordan Pickford a new improved contract when the England goalkeeper returns from his holiday next week. Sky Sports reports that the Toffees are keen on keeping the 24-year-old at Goodison Park after Chelsea have reportedly marked Pickford as a transfer target.
Pickford arrived at Everton last summer in 35m deal from Sunderland and impressed as the club’s number one. He secured a spot in England’s World Cup squad and was then selected as their first pick goalkeeper during the tournament in Russia. With several impressive performances at the World Cup, Pickford could be moving up the ladder.
Chelsea will only be making a move for Pickford if Thibaut Courtois leaves the club in a reported transfer to Real Madrid. However, it seems very unlikely that Everton are willing to sell their Player of the Year after just a single season and the reports of the club offering a new bumper deal reflect that.
