FC Barcelona forward Malcom has laughed off AS Roma’s ‘provocation’ after he scored a goal against the Romans during a pre-season friendly. The Brazilian looked to be on his way to sign a contract at AS Roma, but a last-minute offer from Barcelona changed his mind and a day later Malcom completed a 41m to Spain.
Ahead of their friendly meeting in Texas on Wednesday in the International Champions Cup, Roma defender Kostas Manolas said he had ‘never heard’ of Malcom and Roma’s official social media account ‘muted’ him from its timeline. The Brazilian did silence the Roman’s by scoring a goal in the friendly game.
“What’s important is what happens on the pitch,” Malcom told reporters after the game, which ended in a 4-2 win for Roma. “I don’t get involved with that sort of provocation. “There’s no need to go over and over what happened. I am here, I’m a Barcelona player and I want to help. I hope to be able to make the supporters happy.”
