Robert Lewandowski will not be sold to either Real Madrid or Chelsea this summer. New Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac has revealed that he has been speaking with the Polish forward and that the talks between the two had been fruitful. Lewandowski now has the intention to stay on at Bayern for at least another season.
“It’s true that Robert and I had a conversation last week,” Kovac told Bild. “Robert knows what I think about him. He is clearly one of the top three strikers in the world, so we will certainly not be letting him go. That’s what I told him, and he accepted that, which has made me very happy.”
Earlier this summer Lewandowski’s agent expressed the desire for his client to leave Bayern after four seasons to pursuit a new challenge. He then told reporters it has always been his dream to join Real Madrid. The Spanish giants never made an approach for the striker, while Bayern insisted the forward was not for sale.
