Memphis Depay has revealed his plans to join a bigger club than Olympique Lyon. However, the 24-year-old Dutch forward also said that there currently isn’t any offer for him on the table and that he will be giving 100 per cent while he remains at French club Lyon.
“I’m happy at the moment,” Depay told reporters. “Of course I want to make the step to a bigger club but we will see when that is.” Depay failed to report back in time for preseason training this summer and his absence increased speculation over his future. Depay returned a couple of days later and has been with the club ever since.
The former Manchester United and PSV forward insisted that he will sta focused on his performances for Lyon. “As soon as I have to play here, or as soon as the league starts, I will give 100 per cent,” said Depay. “If you ask any player they want to play in big leagues at big clubs.”
“If a big club comes, I’ve got to discuss that but other than that I’m happy in Lyon, I’m happy with the players and the quality that we have.” Lyon finished in third place in the Ligue 1 last season and will therefore be returning in the Champions League next season.
