It has been all change at the Emirates Stadium in recent months. Arsene Wenger has left the club after what seems like an eternity at the helm and former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery is the new Gunners manager. Will Emery take to the Premier League? Only time will tell but one thing is for sure: the Arsenal boss should build his side around Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Widely regarded as one of the most dangerous strikers in world football, Aubameyang hit the ground running after his move to Arsenal midway through last season. The Gabon star notched 10 goals in 13 Premier League appearances and plenty of punters will be backing Aubameyang to challenge the likes of Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane for the Golden Boot award this campaign.
According to WhoScored, the Gunners forward averaged a goal every 105.8 minutes of top-flight football last season – an impressive feat. Kane’s average was similar, averaging a goal every 102 minutes but Salah was on another level. The Liverpool star broke the record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League campaign and the Egyptian will take some stopping in 2018/19.
Salah when asked what his favourite prize was: “Premier League Golden Boot, for sure. I had to work hard for that, and concentrate on every match to score. Also I had to fight for it with great players such as Harry Kane and Kun Agüero.” pic.twitter.com/KACx2qo1GY

Arsenal fans will be relying on Aubameyang to pick up where he left off at the end of last season – their top four hopes hinge on the Gabon star. Alexandre Lacazette has struggled to live up to the hype after joining from Lyon and Aubameyang will start the season as Emery’s top option in attack. The former Dortmund striker looks destined to enjoy a prolific year at the Emirates Stadium.
At the time of writing, Aubameyang is priced at 7/1 in Paddy Power football betting odds to win England’s illustrious individual goal scorer accolade in 2018/19. Salah and Kane are the main dangers in the Golden Boot race but the Arsenal man will be quietly confident of pipping his rivals to the award. Arsenal will be much improved under Emery and the striker should flourish.
You won’t find too many fans expecting Arsenal to challenge for Premier League glory in the coming months but that could play into their hands. A lack of expectation may help Emery to adjust to the pace of the Premier League and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the north London side snatch a Champions League spot. And if anyone can be the difference maker, it is the Gabon man.
Arsenal were solid enough on home soil last season but the Gunners struggled away from the Emirates Stadium. Wenger’s side lost 11 of their 19 Premier League away fixtures and that kind of form cannot continue in 2018/19. Emery will place great emphasis on Arsenal’s style away from home – Aubameyang should see more chances fall his way on the counter-attack if the Gunners adopt a more defensive mindset.
Aubameyang is one of the most gifted strikers on the planet and Arsenal supporters will be expecting big things from the forward this campaign. We saw a glimpse of what he can do at his brilliant best and he can fire Arsenal back to the Champions League. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him claim the Golden Boot award if everything goes to plan.
