Manchester United sacked José Mourinho on Tuesday and the Red Devils have already found their ideal replacement: Mauricio Pochettino. The United board wants to sign the Argentinian as their new manager for next season, while installing a caretaker manager for the rest of the season.
At first Zinedine Zidane was widely expected to be United’s top favourite, but the Frenchman has already indicated that he does not have the desire to work in the Premier League any time soon. Also, according to The Times, it’s Pochettino who tops United’s wanted list for next season and not the former Real Madrid man.
There is only one problem for Manchester United and that is Pochettino’s current employer Tottenham Hotspur. It is believed the Spurs are very reluctant to allow one of the most successful managers in the club’s history to move to a league rival. It is claimed that Tottenham will require at least 38M, which could make Pochettino the most expensive manager in the history of football.
