Bayer Leverkusen appoint Peter Bosz as new manager

Bayer Leverkusen have appointed former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz as their new head coach. The Dutch manager will replace Heiko Herrlich, who has been sacked earlier this week, despite winning three of Leverkusen’s last four games in the Bundesliga.

“With Peter Bosz as manager we want to get back to meeting our ambitious targets as quickly as possible,” said Bayer Leverkusen chairman Fernando Carro. As manager of Ajax, Bosz managed to qualify for the final of the Europa League (2-0 loss to Manchester United).

Leverkusen is currently in 9th place in the Bundesliga and the club has confirmed that Bosz will be starting at his new post on January 4, the date the club will start preparations for the second half of the season. Bosz has signed a contract until the summer of 2020.
