A delegation of Manchester United has reportedly traveled to Italy to start negotiations to sign AS Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas. The Red Devils have been wanting to sign a new central defender all season and could make a big-money move for the Greece international in January.
Reports in Italy claim that the 27-year-old defender has a release clause in his contract at Roma, which could be as low as €36M. It is believed that United are currently in Rome and have started negotiations with the representatives of Manolas to discuss a possible move in January.
Manolas joined the Italian giants in 2014 from Olympiacos and has made over 200 appearances for the club. This season the defender has made 21 appearances across all competitions. Last season Manolas scored a crucial goal for AS Roma in the Champions League quarter finals with FC Barcelona which sent the Italians to the semi-finals.
