Veteran Portuguese defender Pepe has completed a move to FC Porto. The 35-year-old has now returned to the club he left for Real Madrid 12 seasons ago. Pepe had also been linked with a move to AS Monaco in recent weeks.
The central defender terminated his contract on mutual consent at Turkish giants Besiktas in December due to the clubs financial problems. Pepe underwent a medical at Porto on Monday before he put pen to paper under a contract until the summer of 2021.
Pepe, who earned 103 caps for Portugal, joined Porto in 2002 in a €2m move from Maritimo and left the club three seasons later in a €30m deal to Real Madrid. During his career the defender has won three Champions League with the Spanish giants, while he won two Portuguese championships with Porto.
