Diego Simeone refused to comment on Atletico Madrid’s alleged interest in signing Alvaro Morata on a six-month loan deal. The Chelsea striker has been linked with a move to Atleti after their first choice striker Diego Costa suffered an injury and could need surgery to his foot, possibly keeping him sidelined for the most part of the second half of the current season.
“The only thing I’m thinking about is the upcoming match against Levante,” Simeone told reporters at a news conference. “I don’t speak about players that aren’t with us, only those that are. I can’t confirm or deny anything because coaches wait to see what the club can do.”
Morata has been linked with a move away from Chelsea since the start of the season. Despite the links, the Spanish forward has made 24 appearances for the Blues, scoring a total of 9 goals. In recent weeks Morata has been heavily linked with Sevilla, who also admitted their interest.
