Nikola Vlasic has slammed Everton for their transfer strategy. The attacking midfielder was sent away on loan to CSKA Moscow last summer by the Toffees and looking at his employer, Vlasic is not impressed with their progress.
“Everton spent over €100m this season on three players. Despite their massive investments, the club sits in 11th place on the table”, Vlasic told in an interview with Sportske Novesti. “This shows that the club will be doing new big investments to make sure they can step into the top 10 of the Premier League.”
“Nowadays Everton tries to sign player from big clubs like FC Barcelona. I know that the club wants to be the next Tottenham Hotspur and battle with the big teams in the Premier League.” Vlasic joined Everton in 2017 under Ronald Koeman. After the Dutch manager was sacked, the midfielder fell down the pecking order under Sam Allardyce.
“Everything changed when Koeman left. The football we were used to play changed and the style we played under Allardyce was awful. That had nothing to do with football. I decided I wanted to leave as I don’t see myself playing that kind of football.” Vlasic has a deal until the summer of 2022. The Croatian has played 24 games for CSKA this season.
