Guingamp beats PSG

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a shock defeat on Wednesday to Guingamp in the French cup. Despite PSG taking the lead through a Neymar-goal, penalties from Yeni Ngbakoto and Marcus Thuram ended the 49-game domestic cup winning streak. Brazilian defender Marquinhos was disappointed with his club’s cup exit.

“We are all disgusted to have lost, especially in one of the cups,” said the Brazilian, as quoted by ESPN. “It is not just a defeat, it was an opportunity to win another title.”  PSG have won both the Coupe de la Ligue and Coup de France in four consecutive seasons since the 2014/2015 season.

His teammate Marco Verratti couldn’t believe that Guingamp were awarded three penalties – one of which was missed – in the game. “Yes, we wanted to reach the semi-finals, but we have not managed to do so,” said the Italian. “It was a weird match, in my opinion. We did not concede many chances, yet we gave up three avoidable penalties.”
