Mauricio Pochettino is still adamant of not pressuring Christian Eriksen into signing a new deal at Tottenham Hotspur. The Danish starlet has 18 months left on his current deal and rumous about transfers to Real Madrid or FC Barcelona have intensified in the last weeks.
Pochettino is not worried at all about the rumours and slow-progressing negotiations with Eriksen’s agent. “Maybe he will sign next week or in six months, or the club and him are having different challenges and dreams,” Pochettino told a media conference. “He’s a very special person. You need to give freedom, like on the pitch, you can’t put him in the box.”
Eriksen joined Tottenham in 2013 from Ajax and has been a key player for the first team from the moment he entered White Hart Lane. The 26-year-old Denmark international has played 252 games for Tottenham, scoring 62 goals and providing 78 assists.
