Arsenal have confirmed that Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat will leave the club next month. The German joined the Gunners only two years ago from Borussia Dortmund but felt his role has changed and diminished under the new leadership. Mislintat is reportedly on his way to Bayern Munich.
Arsenal have released an official statement on their website: “Sven has been with us since December 1, 2017 and has done a truly outstanding job in helping us recruit players who are making a big impact now and will do so even more in the future. We wish him every success for the future and thank him for his extremely hard work on behalf of Arsenal.”
Mislintat meanwhile thanked the north London club for his time there: “It’s been an amazing experience to work at a great club like Arsenal in what has been a big time of change. I am excited about what the future holds for the club and am looking forward to new challenges for myself.”
Arsenal are currently in the market for a replacement for Mislintat, with Ajax’s Marc Overmars being tipped as the number one candidate. The former Arsenal forward has been collecting praise as sporting director at the Dutch giants, making the club one of the wealthiest in Europe.
