Gonzalo Higuaín will travel to London on Wednesday to undergo a medical at Chelsea and possibly finalising his transfer to the Blues. Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has confirmed that the Argentinian forward has said farewell to his AC Milan teammates.
“I said goodbye to Higuaín with an embrace, it’s always a bitter moment,” said Reina at a charity event in Milan, as quoted by the Daily Star. “I wished him all the best and gave him a hug. Unfortunately, this too is football. I am losing a team-mate, but retain a great friend.”
Lucas Biglia also confirmed Higuain’s exit: “There is a bitter feeling when saying goodbye, as Pipita is a friend,” said Biglia. “Another player will arrive, one who can hopefully become a great centre-forward. We want to continue doing well.” Wit that final quote, Biglia confirmed that Milan is close to signing Krzyzstof Piatek.
