In their search for a new central midfielder Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Paris Saint-Germain over the availability of Christopher Nkunku. The French midfielder has struggled to play first team football in Paris and has already revealed he wants to leave PSG during the January window.
According to L’Equipe, Arsenal have moved the 21-year-old ahead of FC Barcelona’s Denis Suarez on their wanted list. It is believed talks between the Gunners and the Spanish club have broken down over disagreements on how the deal should be structured. Barcelona wants to sell, Arsenal wants loan including a buy-option.
Nkunku played under Arsenal boss Unai Emery last season and used him alongside Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé with Neymar out injured. It is thought that PSG could be open for a loan move including a option to buy if the club manages to secure the signing of Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes.
