Internazionale are closing in on completing a transfer for Southampton right-back Cedric Soares. Talks between the two clubs have reached the final stages and an agreement is believed to be close. Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla reports that Soares has been given permission to travel to Milan to undergo a medical.
The Italians will be signing the Portuguese full-back on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy the defender during the summer window. It is expected that Soares will arrive in Milan on Friday for the medical and the signing of his contract.
Cedric is considered as a leading player for Southampton and he has featured 22 times in the first team this season. The defender was part of the Portugal national team that won the European Championship in 2016. The report claims that Soares could replace Croatian defender Sime Vrsaljko, who has been struggling with injuries since joining on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer.
