Krzysztof Piatek is AC Milan’s new number one striker. The 23-year-old Polish forward had joined the Rossoneri in a deal worth €35m plus bonuses from Genoa. Piatek is the direct replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, who completed his loan move to Chelsea on Wednesday.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “AC Milan is delighted to announce the acquisition of Krzysztof Piątek from Genoa Cricket and Football Club. The Polish forward has signed a contract with AC Milan until June 30, 2023.” Piatek completed his medical on Wednesday morning before he signed a deal worth €2m-per-season.
The Poland international had only signed for Genoa last summer in a €4.5m deal from Cracovia Krakow, but that did not keep Milan from signing him in January. Piatek scored 13 goals in 19 league appearances, along with six goals in two Coppa Italia matches.
