Borussia Dortmund have sent Swedish wonderkid Alexander Isak on a six-month loan to Dutch side Willem II. The talented forward has been compared to Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic but has failed to break into the first team in Dortmund since joining the German giants in a transfer from AIK a year ago.
Since signing for Dortmund, Isak has only played five Bundesliga games and has failed to make the matchday squad under new boss Lucien Favre this season. The current Bundesliga leaders still have high hopes for Isak and believe a loan spell in the Eredivisie will help him in his development.
“We want to give Alex, whom we believe to be great talent, the opportunity to gain a high level of match practice,” sporting director Michael Zorc told the club’s website. “That’s exactly what we wish for at Willem II.” The young Swedish forward replaces Fran Sol at Willem II. The Spanish forward recently signed a big-money contract at Dynamo Kiev.
