FC Barcelona have made contact with the representatives of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, over a potential summer move to the Camp Nou. reports Goal.com. The Spanish midfielder has only six months left on his current contract and could leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.
Mata would be an interesting asset for the Blaugranas considering his experience, his versatility and his contract situation at Manchester United. It is also believed that the 30-year-old would be keen on returning to his home nation, which he left in 2011 to join Chelsea.
After three seasons at the Blues, winning the Champions League and Europa League, he moved to Manchester United for a then club-record fee of just over €40m. Mata has played 208 games for United, scoring 44 goals and providing 35 assists. He has also earned 41 caps for Spain, being part of the teams that won the World Cup in 2010 and Euro 2012.
