Diego Simeone has insisted that there are no updates yet in relation to his contract at Atletico Madrid. The Argentinian claims he is fully committed to the team and is focused on the club’s LaLiga clash with Getafe on Saturday.
Simeone and Atletico Madrid have reportedly been in talks about a new contract for several months, with an agreement still to be reached. The coach still has a deal until the summer of 2020 and told earlier he is in no hurry to extend his current deal. Simeone is Atletico’s most successful coach in the club’s history, winning seven trophies since joining the club in 2011.
The club, however, is keen to extend his deal beyond 2020, making him the most paid member at Atletico with his new terms. Simeone insists that there will not be an update soon: “There is nothing to talk about yet,” he said. “I am just thinking of tomorrow’s game when we will face Getafe, a team that is having an extraordinary season so far.”
