Southampton right-back Cedric Soares has completed his loan move to Internazionale until the end of the season. According to Sky Sports, the Italians also have an option to sign the defender on a permanent deal in the summer. Inter will reportedly pay a loan fee around €575.000 and will need to pay an extra €10m to seal the player long-term.
New Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been trimming down his squad at St. Mary’s during the January transfer window. Manolo Gabbiadini and Wesley Hoedt have already left the club for Sampdoria and Celta Vigo respectively, while Soares is the third Southampton player to have left the club.
Soares joined Southampton from Sporting Portugal in 2015 and has made 119 appearances for the club. A statement read: “The club would like to wish Cedric good luck for the rest of the season with Inter.” Soares is an international for Portugal, claiming the European Championship in 2016.
