Alvaro Morata closing in on his transfer to Atletico Madrid, claim reports in Spain. The Spanish striker will be undergoing a medical with the club on Sunday, as Atletico is currently in the final stages of negotiations with Chelsea.
Atletico Madrid will sign Morata on a six-month loan deal and will have an option to sign him on a permanent basis. It is not an obligated option to buy, which means Morata could return to Chelsea in the summer. The Blues signed Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus last week, which have made Morata’s departure a certainty.
Fans of Atletico voiced their displeasure on the Morata rumours this weekend during Atletico’s win over Getafe, chanting in favour of Borja Garces, instead of the incoming Morata. Head coach Diego Simeone told after the game he is certain Morata could be of value to the club if he would sign from Chelsea.
