Alvaro Morata is a Atletico Madrid player. The Spanish striker has successfully completed his transfer from Chelsea and will be available for Diego Simeone with an immeadiate effect. Morata has joined Atletico on a six month loan deal and the club an option to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.
“I’m very happy and proud to be here. I can’t wait to start training, meet my new team-mates and play,” Morata told the Spanish side’s website. Despite the forward enjoying his big break at city rivals Real Madrid, he started his career in Atletico’s youth academy.
Morata enjoyed two spells at Real Madrid, playing two seasons for Juventus before returning to Madrid. In the summer of 2017 Morata joined Chelsea in a deal worth close to 64m. He wasn’t able to impress playing for the Blues and the forward was linked with a transfer since last summer. Despite the rumours, new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri decided to keep Morata at Stamford Bridge.
He would play 16 games for Chelsea this season, scoring only 6 goals. Morata’s days at Chelsea seemed over when the club tried to sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan from Juventus. Last week the club confirmed the transfer of the Argentinian, who already played his first game as a Chelsea player last weekend.
