Italian side Bologna have confirmed that they have officially sacked Filippo Inzaghi and replaced him with Sinisa Mihajlovic. The club released a statement on their website thanking Inzaghi for his ‘passion and professionalism’. Inzaghi’s replacement has been given a contract until the end of the season.
Mihajlovic will be able to earn an extra season at Bologna and it is widely expected that the Serbian will only be rewarded if he manages to keep the club in the Serie A. For Mihajlovic it marks a return to Bologna after a short stint with the club in the 2008/2009 season. He also enjoyed spells at Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, AC Milan and Torino.
His last job was at Sporting Portugal, but he lasted only nine days before being sacked again by the club. He was confirmed and announced as the successor of Jorge Jesus on June 18 and would start his job on July 1st, but was sacked after a board change after just nine days. He is currently suing Sporting and has demanded a total of €11m for his sacking and damage to his reputation.
