Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has suffered an ankle injury. The Serie A league leaders have released a statement which confirms the Italian defender has suffered a sprained ankle and could be sidelined for a month.
The defender started in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Lazio, but was forced off the pitch with an injury before half time. Juventus released a medical statement on Monday and confirmed he has sprained his right ankle and reports have claimed he could be out of action for as long as a month.
He could be a doubt for Juventus’ first leg tie in the last-16 Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on February 20. It is expected that Bonucci will be back to full fitness for the return leg that will be held in Turin on March 12. The 31-year-old Bonucci has started 17 Serie A games this season.
