Chelsea are reportedly preparing a summer bid for FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The Blues are looking to fill the void left behind by Cesc Fabregas and have now targeted the Croatian midfielder as their top target.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has made no secret of the desire to sign a new midfielder to act as cover and competition for Italian midfielder Jorginho. The club failed in their attempts to secure a midfielder in the January window, with bids reject for Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella and Zenit midfielder Leandro Paredes.
It now appears that Chelsea are keen on Rakitic, claim Sport. The midfielder is expected to fall down the pecking order next season due to the arrival of Frenkie de Jong and the Spanish giants are believed to be keen to get Rakitic off the wage bill if a suitable offer arrives.
