FC Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that Denis Suarez is on his way to sign for Arsenal. The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Gunners for the past few weeks and earlier it was thought the deal had been called off. However, with Valverde’s confirmation, Arsenal fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Spanish midfielder.
Valverde says he understands that Suarez wants to move clubs and has backed him to do well for his new club. “I know Denis was in this situation. It’s not official yet and we have to wait a little,” Valverde told a news conference on Tuesday. “It was a possibility that everyone valued, and we hope that things go well.”
The 25-year-old Suarez rejoined Barcelona in 2016 after the club sold him to Villarreal in 2015 for €4m. The one-time Spain international was an academy player at Celta de Vigo, before joining Manchester City in 2011. He was then signed by Barcelona in 2013, who then sent him on loan to Sevilla in 2014 before he completed a full transfer to Villarreal.
