Villarreal have appointed Javi Calleja as their ‘new’ manager. The Spanish head coach was sacked less than two months ago by the Spanish club, but has nou been reappointed as the successor of Luis Garcia Plaza, who was sacked earlier this Tuesday.
Garcia Plaza just won one game in nine games across all competitions since taking over the club in December, but has now been sacked by the club. The Yellow Submarine confirmed that Calleja has returned to the club, the same manager who led the club to a fifth place in LaLiga last season.
President Fernando Roig on Calleja’s appointment: “Villarreal and I distinguish ourselves by doing the opposite of what many people expect and I assume all the responsibility of the decision. It is my decision and I assume the decision until the end of the season.” Villarreal are currently in 19th position in LaLiga after 21 games.
