Bayern Munich have confirmed the departure of Sandro Wagner to Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda. The 31-year-old German forward has signed a contract for 18-months with the Chinese club in a deal worth reportedly €5m.
“Sandro Wagner came to us and asked to terminate his contract, said sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić. “He has a very attractive offer from China and we have met his request. We expressly thank Sandro for spending time with FC Bayern and wish him all the best and much success for his future.”
It is believed that Wagner will earn around €15m in the 18 months that he will be spending at Tianjin. The German international (8 caps, 5 goals) joined Bayern in January 2018 as a back-up for Robert Lewandowski and in 38 appearances he scored 11 goals. Wagner has also enjoyed spells at Hoffenheim, Darmstadt, Werder Bremen and Hertha BSC.
