Japanese side FC Tokyo have confirmed that they have interest in signing Arjen Robben next season after his contract at Bayern Munich has expired. The 35-year-old already confirmed he will be leaving the German giants at the end of this season after joining them in 2009 from Real Madrid.
Robben’s future is still unclear and the former Dutch international has stated he could retire if the ‘right offer’ does not come in. That offer could be coming from Japan as FC Tokyo have now confirmed that there is interest and they could make a move for the veteran forward if the interest is mutual.
Speaking to the Japan Times an executive of the club admitted that they could try to sign Robben at the end of the season. “I can’t say that he’s on the table yet, but we’re gathering information,” the unnamed executive said. “There won’t be any clubs that aren’t interested.”
