Liverpool have missed an opportunity to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Leicester City at Anfield. While Liverpool enjoyed a good start and an early lead, Jurgen Klopp’s men failed to secure a win against the Foxes.
Sadio Mane gave Liverpool fans the start they hoped for with a goal after just three minutes into the first half. The forward received the bal inside the penalty area and had no problems converting the goal behind Kasper Schmeichel. The home side was then given a good opportunity to double their lead, but Roberto Firmino’s shot was saved by Schmeichel. Just before half-time Leicester City got the equaliser through a goal by Harry Maguire. Liverpool fans were furious with the goal because Maguire should have received a red card for a hard tackle.
In the second half of the game it was Leicester City with the best and first chance. James Maddison’s chance got wasted and the score remained level. Liverpool enjoyed a weak start to the second half, with Firmino preventing an own goal. As the second half progressed, Liverpool improved and had the better chances of the two, though a foul by Naby Keita could have given Leicester a penalty. There would be no goals in the second half and the game would end in a disappointing draw.
