Schalke 04 have started negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur to strike a loan deal for striker Vincent Janssen, reports Sky Sports. The out-of-favour Dutch striker has also been linked with a move to Spanish side Real Betis, but it is claimed that the LaLiga side have decided to pull the plug out of their bid.
Janssen has not featured for Tottenham this season and the club is eager to sell the former AZ Alkmaar forward. Burnley, Cardiff and an unnamed French club have also shown interest in the Dutch international, but there have not been any viable offers for the forward.
The Netherlands international, who joined Spurs from AZ Alkmaar on a four-year contract in 2016 for a fee believed to be €25m, could leave Tottenham for a fee around €17.5M. Schalke, however, are hoping to sign Janssen on a six-month loan deal but could be open to add a buy-option for this summer.
