Arsenal alerted as potential Aubameyang replacement makes Prem admission

Reported Arsenal target Kevin Volland has opened the door to a move to the Premier League by suggesting he has the qualities to succeed in England.

Bayer Leverkusen attacker Volland was linked with Arsenal before the January transfer window, having been scouted by them on several occasions.

However, the Bundesliga club decided against selling the striker mid-season, although just 18 months remain on his contract.

His deal will expire at the same time as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s at Arsenal, and with Friday’s European papers suggesting that Inter Milan have their eyes on the Gabon international, the idea of Volland being signed as his replacement may resurface.

The 27-year-old, who can play as a right winger but predominantly features up front, has now put Premier League suitors on alert by describing the league as “interesting” – even if he accepts he is happy at his current club.

“The Premier League is a very interesting league for me,” he told Sport1. “The pace is extremely high, the league requires a lot of willingness to run – that would be fine for me. But you never know what will happen.

“I am also not the type of person who says, ‘I have to play again in England, Italy or Spain’. I feel very comfortable in Leverkusen and leave everything open.”
