Borussia Dortmund will not put pressure on 15-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko. The young striker has been impressing the world ever since he made his debut for the U19 squad at Dortmund, scoring a smashing 34 goals in 20 appearances, including a double hattrick on his U19 Bundesliga debut.
With Dortmund fans expecting the youngster to make his debut for the first team sooner than later, sporting director Michael Zorc ensures the club treats Moukoko carefully. “The framework conditions for professional appearances by absolute exceptional players of this age has been created, but we are not putting any pressure on him at all.”
Head of Dortmund’s player academy Sebastian Kehl shares Zorc’s opinion. “There will always be a decision on a case-by-case basis, which will not only be made on the basis of sporting skills,” he said. “Here physical and mental aspects, but also the personality of the player play a major role. We will all handle it very responsibly.”
