Everton are ready to offer Thiago Silva a huge salary to lure him away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The 35-year-old Brazilian will be out of contract this summer and has yet to reach an agreement with the French giants over a new deal. It is believed that Silva and his agent have rejected PSG’s first offer.
The French champions want to extend the club captain’s deal with a single season, while Silva wants to extend for at least two extra years. PSG would also like to lower Silva’s salary, which is believed to be around 12M per year. L’Equipe and RMC Sport now report that Silva is heading towards the exit at the Parc des Princes this summer.
AC Milan has been rumoured to have interest in Silva, but English media now believe that Everton are keen on landing the experienced centre-back. The Toffees hope to bolster their squad for next season in their hunt for a top seven finish in the Premier League. Technical director Marcel Brands is expected to open talks with Silva and his entourage before the end of the month.
