Rakitic ready to fight for place at Barcelona: Convinced that i’ll stay

Ivan Rakitic has suggested once again that he has no plans of leaving FC Barcelona in the near future. The Croatian international is approaching the final 12 months of his contract with the Spanish giants and many rumours about his future have been moving around.

“I’m convinced that I’ll stay at Barcelona. 2 weeks ago, I contacted the club and we agreed that there’s nothing to talk about because I still have a contract with Barcelona and my wife and kids are happy here. I just want to enjoy and be happy. That comes by winning titles with Barcelona,” he told Croatian outlet T Portal.

Rakitics has made 299 appearances for Barcelona since joining them from Sevilla. This season his playing time has been limited with the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax. Despite losing his spot to the Dutchman, Rakitic has still featured in 30 games this season. As a result, the 32-year-old is determined to stay with Barça for the final year of his contract.
