Ryan Gravenberch has ended all speculations around his future by signing a new multi-year contract at Ajax. The 18-year-old midfielder is considered as one of the future stars in Dutch football, already playing 14 games in Ajax’s first team.
Gravenberch had one year remaining on his contract and speculation around his future were gradually emerging. Clubs like FC Barcelona, Juventus and Internazionale appeared to be interest in the midfielder, who is represented by the famous player agent Mino Raiola. The youngster then ended all speculations by signing a new deal until the summer of 2023.
For next season the midfielder hopes to claim a spot in the starting eleven of the Dutch record champions. Last season he played 14 games for Ajax. “The first two games went really well. After that I made a mistake and you will have to learn to deal with that as an 18-year-old. For me it was difficult and in the ten games after that mistake I really struggled and I wasn’t anything like myself.”
To become more important for his team Gravenberch is the first to acknowledge he will have to improve his game. “I have to show that I am one of the best players in the squad. After that it will be up to the coach to play me. But, if you play like one of the best he will always make room for you in the team. I have to be myself and play like I know I can play.”
